Define what you need to verify
Start from the product identity and an official HTTPS website. Follow a redirect deliberately and check whether it represents a renamed product, a parent company or an unrelated destination. A familiar name is not evidence that the original service continues.
Keep the decision and evidence reviewable
Keep a short record of the source, review date and exact fact it supports. Do not treat an inaccessible page as verified. When descriptions conflict, preserve the disagreement until an official explanation resolves it.
